It's a very interesting book that anyone interested in parapolitics would probably like. The basic premise is two college students attempt to discover the true identity of a famous author who wrote under the pen name VM Straka. The mystery of the author is based of a real life case, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._Traven
A popular author, who seems to have anarchist sympathies and perspectives, who's real identity is hotly debated. Both Straka and Traven also had a successful movie where they were allegedly spotted on set, and a were represented by an agent who many believe to just be them. It also seems to take inspiration from the Taman Shud case in the circumstances of many assassinations. I also suspect that the law firm "Washington and Green" in the novel was based on Sullivan and Cromwell, although it might just be any generic evil law firm.
The novel also deals with the role of international arms trade in the suppression of workers and as a driving force of global conflict. and secret societies and agents which serve capitalist class.
Anyone Else Read S. by Doug Dorst/JJ Abrams?
